📚Currently reading:

🎧Lud in the Mist
🎧Rise of the King

Progress:
Glad I got back to the Drizzt novels, maybe I can finally catch up by next year. Been making slow but steady progress with Lud in the Mist. I am really loving it. I might pick another short audiobook between those two, but we shall see.

Mehso-so

I was finally in the mood to start these again. I think at this point I've made peace with the fact that I only really read these for the B plot with the dark elves, and to see what my favorite assassin is up to and his character development through the series. if it were not for those things I would not bother with this series at all. When Salvator wants to be good, he is SO good, but most of these books feel like mediocre shlock.

Doppoetry I'm beginning to think that Salvatore does not keep any notes because MC is going back and forth between subjects that I thought he already went through “This guy is my friend“ in one book “this guy is my Enemy“ in a different book “this guy is okay, actually but I still hate him but I like him but I hate him“ on a loop. It drives me crazy every time.

Doppoetry MC's asides between chapters are also hypocritical at best while trying to be deep but failing. The writing is so juvenile and pretentious.

My first foray into D&D novels and it set a VERY high bar. The opening scene of this is was so wildly cinematic that I was halfway through the book before I even realized it.

This one wasn‘t my favorite of the series but it was still exceptional. Salvatore really is a master at his craft, and his vivid descriptions of combat are something I aspire to as a writer. I wanted more moments between the characters outside of battle, but the last book was leading up to this war so I understood the necessity. And in any case, it was hard to put down. I was even biting my nails at certain points.

1. Nope. We‘re trying to be healthier and my kids will get enough when they go trick or treating in a different neighborhood. We usually don‘t get trick or treaters in our neighborhood (sadly).

2. Magic gone awry.

My family and I faired well after Hurricane Milton passed through last night into the early morning. Grateful we‘re all okay. There was minimal damage, even though it was a bit scary there for a second. I‘ve endured my fair share of hurricanes, including Katrina, but the wind/thunder from Milton sounded unlike anything I‘ve ever heard. We have no power, but I‘m perfectly fine with my huge TBR pile and art supplies.

Didn‘t really know what I wanted to read next so I just went for a couple that have been waiting in my TBR pile for a long while… next up for fiction is the 9th book in the Legend of Drizzt series. I definitely missed Drizzt, so I feel like this is a good choice for my next read…

I love these books for the action and the camaraderie, the world building and the adrenaline rush, but even more so these quiet moments of reflection from Drizzt in the beginning of a section should never be overlooked because they add a deeper layer of emotion. Also, does anyone have difficulty with a re-read if you know something hard is coming? 😭🤔🫠 #currentlyreading #thisImustbelieve

Columbus Market paid dividends again with this memorable 💎 of a statue I had to have. So of course I had to get the books again for a fond re-read. This beautiful copy came on my radar. #currentlyreading #afondreread #lovethisseries #teamdrowelf 💙🥹

In a nutshell: fantasy suitable for people who like the fantasy genre but struggle to read it.

RA Salvatore's writing is engaging, and he doesn't bog it down with unnecessarily lengthy descriptions - great for someone with ADHD (like me). The descriptions are easy to visualize, and the fight scenes are easy to follow. While Drizzt can be frustratingly naive, it's difficult not to like him, and the environment around him keeps you on your toes.
