Read this to give my brain a break from comps reading & it delivered beautifully. Not very spicy but vulnerable, reflective, & heartfelt. Perfect for breaking up the weight of all the theory & philosophy I have to read this week. Exam questions arrive Monday morning! I hope I have enough time to write a few sentences in an email to each of my advisors in between speed reading what‘s left on my list 😅😬😰😭🫥 this summer has been so transformative

#TLT #ThreeListThursday My favorite soundtracks are: 1. Mad Love, I was obsessed with soundtrack in college. It also lead me to one of my favorite groups 7 Year B!tch. 2. Reality Bites, still listen to this soundtrack, love Violent Femmes. 3. Singles, probably one of the best soundtracks ever. I listened to this on cassette tape all through college.

I read this as a palate cleanser between heavy books and enjoyed it much more than I expected. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

The main PRO of this book: it‘s set in Bath! I went there last summer, so reliving it was dreamy ❤️
Other than that, I was disappointed after loving The Good Part. Premise made it sound like the MC would consider multiple men, but it was VERY obvious from day 1 who the main love interest was. What ensued was a lot of “he‘s perfect, let me invent bogus obstacles,” and I‘m not about that.

Anna is divorced and has absolutely no desire to date until she suddenly needs to write a dating column in order to keep her job. When a basic foray back into dating is not fresh enough for the new big boss she agrees to let her kids pick her next few dates and to have her column go head to head with her work nemesis‘s dating column. I had a lot of fun with this story as Anna starts to trust herself and the world again and loved the Bath setting.

This was my #jolabokaflod gift from @LeslieO and I finally got to finish it. I started it on Christmas Eve but didn‘t get far, but when I restarted it in February I finished quickly. I ended up loving Anna and Will plus the premise of the book made it fun getting where the author was leading. I‘ve enjoyed all the Sophie Cousens books I‘ve read so far. She‘s become a real favorite.

I know there are plenty of women on Instagram who got divorced and took up running or weight lifting or started their own aromatherapy candle businesses. They look and feel better than ever, phoenixes risen from the ashes, embracing their “new chapter.” I am a dazed pigeon, looking for crumbs. But I am fine with that; being a phoenix looks exhausting.

Sophie Cousens is a gem of a writer! 🥰
