My only #booksetinsouthamerica , for some reason books set in this part of the world don't make it onto my shelfs. Which is weird because I loved this book, magical and very intricate, I will probably have to re-read it several times before I understand all of it. So this #booktober challenge opened my eyes to my lack of books set in South America.
When I first picked up One Hundred Years of Solitude as a teenager, I hated it. I found it confusing and melodramatic. When it showed up on a syllabus years later for a class on religion and fantasy, I realized that my opinion had changed-- I can't think of a novel with a stronger sense of place. It's now one of my favorite books, which is why I always have a copy on hand to give away! #booktober #booksetinsouthamerica
