Two old women was an excellent story passed down from generation to generation. A short fast paced book. 5 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

This is a beautifully written bittersweet story of a middle aged couple trying to make their way in Alaska and the found family the find along the way. There are some possible fantastical elements, but overall it does a great job of demonstrating the harsh reality of early 20th century Alaska. It was not perfect for me though. The last third of the book really annoyed me and felt unnecessary.⬇️

Nessavamusic The ending felt appropriate though, even though it was sad. 3.75⭐️ #roll100 pick done and 2 #bookspinbingos! 2mo

I‘m posting one book a day from my massive collection. No description, no reason for why I want to read it.

The risk and costs of a climbing adventure gone wrong in a remote Alaskan mountain range for 2 climbing couples. Unfortunate but interesting.

Faina, a surprise arrival in the snow, didn‘t capture my attention like she did her adopters (and perhaps creators) Jack and Mabel. Faina‘s mere presence, a kind of miracle in their lonely lives, is the event but the somewhat blank girl doesn‘t do much beyond showing up and—as we humans often can‘t resist—leaving. Most of the characters in the book take a hike, to discover who they are and can be.

My #bookspin this month was a historical fiction about the exploration of the Wolverine River through Alaska, the first successful trip by white men.

While the exploration part was interesting, I preferred the other part of the story is about Sophie, the wife of the lead explorer. She is left behind near Seattle, and finds a new interest in photography of birds and nature, in the days when the art of photography was new.

This is another novel in Stabenow‘s Kate Shugak series. The story takes place in Alaska. Kate is a native Aleut who is a private investigator. Kate has a half dog/half wolf companion named Mutt. They are a team who are out to find answers to the current situation. There have been murders. Kate and Alaska State Trooper Jim Chopin are there to solve the crime. There are lots of different characters to love or hate. 4/5⭐️
