I am taking a real life #WhimsicalTour ! ❤️ Day 1 - Roma!
After 3 months traipsing through Europe, Bella and I are saying so long! (Just ignore the snoring, we're pooped!)
Thank you so much for hosting the #BackpackEurope adventure @JenP and @BookwormM ! It's been lots of fun!
#WhimsicalTour ... the end. ❤️
Magical! The best word to describe this story of two University of Iowa girls living and working in NY in the summer of 1945.
It was full of moments big and small - the first women to work on the floor of Tiffany, the WWII Pacific surrender, eating at the Automat (oh, how I wish I could have eaten there!), going on dates with midshipmen, seeing the ocean for the first time... Every minute was wonderful, I loved it!
Now on to home!
After my thoroughly enjoyable #BackpackEurope excursion, I flew back to the U.S. of A. for one last stop before heading home - spending a little time in NYC.
What better way to close out my summer trip than hearing Marjorie Hart retell the story of her amazing summer in that fabulous city in 1945. 😍❤️

I had looked forward to capping off my #WhimsicalTour by enjoying the fantastical adventures of Baron Munchausen. I love the absurd!
However, I found these tales to be rather unpalatable. Just about every story involved animal mutilation or grotesque injury (generally to someone other than the Baron.) The absurdity quickly became monotonous, and any humor was far outweighed by the repulsive harm inflicted.

It turns out the adventure was much more than looking for Vanessa's husband and following the circus...
A shadowy agency (I.e. spies!) prevents me from expanding on the details, but it was thrilling! Zooming in a Mercedes through mountain roads, climbing in a rack railway, being chased over a chateau roof. 😳
Great company, exciting adventures, and quite a few surprises along the way!

Imagine finding out from a garrulous friend that your husband of 2 years just appeared on a newsreel from Vienna, meaning he is not in Stockholm, as he said. What to do? Take action! Jump on the chance to chaperone the friend's son to Vienna!
What do I do? Join in the adventure! Vanessa and I intend to find out what exactly is going on...

Having met him for myself, I found Saturnin wasn't a doppelgänger for Jeeves. Saturnin certainly didn't have the "perfect servant" veneer, but like Jeeves, he could somehow always right the world. Saturnin's methods were just slightly more devious, and often seemed to make the situation actually *worse* before we discover how well things turn out. I leave my host happy and much better off than when I met him. In fact, he was on his way to a date⬇️
Well, I'm no longer lost! It turns out I was just reading the map upside down! 😆
Reading the map right side up, I found my way to my host's home, but upon arrival, I was informed that Saturnin had procured a houseboat as a new residence, so I would instead find the gentleman and his butler on the Vltava river.
On my way there, I stopped in the National Technical Museum (between the electrical and vehicular issues we face in this tale ... ⬇️
I've been in the Czech Republic for a week, but I find I am completely lost in Prague! I was due at my host's home yesterday to meet his new valet, Saturnin, but I don't know where I am, and I don't know when I will figure out where I am! 😭😭
(Which is to say my book was due yesterday, and I've only just been able to start it, so my misadventure may get costly)
