This book is what I am reading to my grandmother. She is still recovering from the brain bleed that happened in January. She has recovered a lot, she still has some problems from it. Last night she asked me to read to her. It is the love of books that she instilled into me. She can't see to well either. I am going to do the Little House series next cause that is what we both enjoy so much.

dabbe Your grandmother is very lucky to have you. Wishing her a continued recovery.

Crystal83 @dabbe Thank you!!! I am lucky to have her. She is one of kind. My grandfather and her took my mom and my siblings in after my parents divorced when I was little. 2y

I picked the tagged for H because not many know of it. It's a memoir that reads like a novel, about growing up in an oppressive religious environment and with an abusive steparent. I only read it on a lark because I am distantly related to everyone with her surname, and was curious. It's a very powerful read, and for a while the author had a nonprofit that helped teens find their voice through writing. #Alphabetgame #LetterH

SleepyDragon Author also lost her sight, wrote another memoir about the degenerative disease that took it, and now works as a ghostwriter and motivational speaker, giving workshops and mentorships for aspiring memoir writers. I googled her last night, and was sad that her nonprofit for teens was no more. 2y

Mehso-so

Definitely an interesting (if short) book. Not quite what I expected, I got snippets here and there of it seen from the people who were involved in the war via quotes.
But I misunderstood the title.
I expected the war to be told from their perspective, what I actually got was a description of the event blow by blow with tiny little bits from those involved.
Still a decent read though.
