Powerful. A story told of life through the eyes of 3 sisters and their Meemaw. It reminds us how much big tragedies influence all the days of our lives, even our hopes and dreams. Yet it is the small joys of day-to-day life and the love of others that keep us going and growing. Savannah‘s twin disappears while the family plays at the lake beach. Later, as adults, the girls search for clues and find some surprises.

Iris and I finished up our second book of the new year. While it wasn‘t ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ it was a good story that kept my interest. The story did feel rushed at the end to get all the family issues resolved.

Going for something not from 2025 on one of my TBR Shelves - I‘m doing the #192030 reading challenge which feels kind of fun and hopefully it will help me read some of the things that have been hanging out on my shelves for a long time.

I have a goal to read more physical books in 2026 to lessen screen time. Starting the year with The Griffin Sisters. (And trying to remember how to post on Litsy since it‘s been a bit! 🤭)

How to Draw a Secret | Cindy Chang

Wow! This middle grade graphic novel packed quite the emotional punch!

The story is based on the author‘s own life. It followed Cindy at age 12 when she discovers some major family secrets.

I loved the structure of the this book. It was a linear story with some flashbacks. The flashbacks added to the story and were well placed.

The joy of 114 pages after the previous massive tome! The joy of the glorious cover too. I‘ve been wanting to read more Tessa Hadley; this is a short, sharp novella that perhaps doesn‘t live up to the cover in terms of overall vibe, but was a great little read nonetheless.

Sibling relationships and creative block (like writer's block). The crayons are too new. I love how the illustrator surrounded the character with potential drawings anticipating their creation. The sisters have crayon-names Violet and Marigold.

I enjoyed this book of connected short stories about two sisters from Hardscrabble Bay, New Brunswick. The stories take place over a span of 70 years and are sort of like Anne of Green Gables or Sarah Plain and Tall but with sex and swearing. So many Littens would love this book. Check it out!
