pickI continue to love the writing of Claire Keegan and this short volume did not disappoint. It is the story of a disconnected farming family and the secrets that are upended after a series of unexpected events. I don‘t want to say too much to give it away, but again - Keegan‘s masterful at giving voice to the emotions of those working families who are often viewed as stern or lacking in emotion.
Trying this short story today.

I finished this short story from the Shady Hollow series as part of my #ThematicCozies for January #Animal It‘s a bit out of season with it‘s October/Halloween setting but I missed it in October & wanted to check it off to be completely caught up with this series. A quick read with Vera & the down looking for a young squirrel possibly ⬇️
pickThis was an unsettling cosmic horror short story about a little boy with god-like powers, and like a god, he can be merciful or ruthless depending on how his neighbors or family treat him.
pickA cute novella detailing Vero's life before she meets Finlay. She comes across as extremely smart, more so that I got in the main series. She needs a better life than being Finlay's sidekick. The beginning of the book was very heavy on exposition. The pace picked up towards the second half as Vero tries to discover who is stealing money from the bank. Overall this was a sweet look into her life and provides some background to her story.
pickThis was such a sweet little collection of three Christmas-themed short stories by LM Montgomery. Just absolutely perfect!
pickI have loved joining in the LMM readalong of short stories by LMM hosted by @Barbara This month! The stories have similar themes, broken relationships, giving gifts to those who are less fortunate, etc. they are always uplifting and such a treat in this season.
My oldest is 7! 🤯 The time really does fly! For F‘s birthday I got her a sticker pack of one of her favorite creatures axolotl‘s and she gave me this one. “It has glasses and reads too Mama!” 🥰💛
pickAnother sweet short story for #KindredSpiritsChristmas today. It‘s like The Gift of the Magi turned on its head. Theodora lives with her widowed aunt & cousins. When her aunt doesn‘t have enough money to do Christmas for the children, Theodora sneaks out on Christmas Eve to sell a locket given to her by her beloved brother, presumed to be dead. Don‘t want to spoil it but I really liked this one. 4⭐️80 points
