Took a recent trip to Lancaster, PA for a quiet anniversary weekend that included a visit to Pocket Books Shop and Dog Star Books. Tea, McCullers, and Pavic will all be first-time reads for me. I never heard of Dictionary of the Khazars before, but apparently, it was a bestseller in 1983. Weirdly, there is a 'male' and 'female' version that are the same except for 17 lines? Could be a weird gag, but sounded interesting otherwise.

sarahbarnes I hope you like the Tokarczuk! I‘ve had a copy of Heart for ages and have never read it. 2w
sarahbarnes I see your copy of Black Cathedral there - have you read it? I‘ve been curious about it. 2w
Billypar @BarbaraBB Thank you! And mine is also a boy, lol. Part of me wants to look up what the line difference is, but not sure if it's a spoiler or just won't make sense out of context. 2w
Billypar @sarahbarnes I loved Drive Your Plow but totally missed Empusium's translation coming out - I'm looking forward to it! I haven't read Black Cathedral yet - that shelf in the background is my TBR shelf. It was one I hadn't heard of before I found it in the bookstore, but seems to be squarely in my wheelhouse. 2w

Another fantastic birthday week.

1) My brother and I gift books on our birthdays. Last year he brought me two books from Switzerland, both of which I already had. This year he brought me KL and was sure I hadn‘t heard of it. I had to tell him I just finished Book 2. He asked where I heard about it and said from my Litsy family. His response was “I hate those people”. 🤣 I am thrilled to have a physical copy.
2) Guilty pleasure ⬇️

Deblovestoread 2) books that were half price and with a b‘day gift card 3) Dr. Seuss fabric from a quilt shop visit today and lunch with my fellow August b‘day friend 4) Fantastic book choice from @TheBookHippie with a beautiful journal, bookmark and tea 5) Another fantastic book from @AmyG with a reading journal and sticker. I am so grateful for my Litsy friends. ❤️ (edited) 2mo
AmyG Book 3 of KL was my favorite. Enjoy! 2mo

I'm not particularly enjoying the artwork in this graphic memoir so far, but I did spot an Italy!

The official video is a neat animated effort. Look at the suggested videos for an awesome live version from The Tube, in which Iggy correctly declares, "I am the fucking greatest of all time!"
I love this edgy '80s album. It has an End Times vibe.

lil1inblue Iggy is just fantastic. 5mo

A day late with this, oh well.
1. Rough. The world and hormones are doing a number on me. Took 2 mental health days from work.
2. Absolutely! I can shut off my brain.
3. 90s grunge and riot grrl music lately. The louder and angrier the better.
@Kerrbearlib #mentalhealthmonday

TheBookHippie Agreed. 8mo
peaKnit Amen to all of this! 8mo
Kerrbearlib Responding late. I love 90s grunge. Pearl Jam was one of my first concerts. Some great music came out of that time period! 8mo
Kerrbearlib I hope this week is going a little better for you, btw. Despite the state of the world, anyway. Sending lots of support your way! 8mo

Pickpick

Decent read. I kept thinking is this someone famous, a famous artist or punk rock musician?

Well, no, not really. He is very famous for originating the Afro-Punk scene and Afropunk Festival which has now gone global. Noice!! 🎸

Movie is out-of-print though, not on streaming anywhere and a DVD will set you back close to $100 ! 🤑
