BarbaraBB It‘s 1130 AM here and I just get out of bed. The Boyne is addicting. The rest of the day will bring more reading, a yoga class and cooking Indonesian rendang for later this week (it needs to shimmer for hours!) 💕 6y

BarbaraBB I think for a cook as I think you to be, it will be easy. Lots of spices indeed, but they‘ll have them in the shuk, and then it‘s quite easy. It‘s the shimmering that takes time 😀. I‘ve been to Indonesia twice. Once with my Mom, she showed me where she came from but there‘s no family living there anymore. The second time I showed my kids. 6y

BarbaraBB @Cinfhen My father is Dutch and I feel very Dutch too. My mother‘s family arrived here shortly after the war so she grew up here as well (she was just a kid then). They are not Muslim but their culture is more pagan. There is a lot of superstition and they wholeheartedly believe in ghosts living among us. Stuff like that. I am very interested but much more Dutch myself! 6y

BarbaraBB You may be interested in this book then, it‘s all about spirits and ghosts as a totally accepted part of Indonesian culture.

Cinfhen Thanks for the book rec!! Stacked!!! And not much of a story but more of my hubby finally breaking me... he‘s always wanted to live in Israel @BarbaraBB 😉we met here as students on our gap year and it seemed fitting somehow🤩😌 6y
