Today brings you a tale of 2 #toblonglist titles because for both I found the MC to be extremely relatable… but for the tagged, this meant the 20-something self-involvedness & resulting life implosion was cringe but i rooted for her; & yet the American Mermaid mc is making me want to hide in shared shame and bail... Weird how that shared characteristic is affecting me so differently. Does AM get more fun, all yall who've read it for #tob2024?

#LitsyToB2024 I lived in NYC for several years and I usually enjoy books about the place I used to call home. I really couldn‘t get into this one though. I listened to the audiobook and I didn‘t care for the narrator. And the plot was very slow.

I hit my goal 120 books in 2023, including a handful of chunksters. If I counted correctly, I think 39 of them were fiction, the rest were nonfiction, with a lot of biography, memoir, and essays. I have a bunch of fiction on tap for January between #AuldLangSpine with @JenReadsAlot and the #LitsyToB2024, though. Maybe this year the goal will be to hit 50,000 pages…

I was in a FLURRY when the TOB Long List was announced but it has taken to today for me to start again on figuring out how to read what for the next few months. I appreciate all of you here at Litsy giving me new avenues to read widely and deeply and having fun doing so. 🤩 Pictured is my paper tracking guide. 🥸 About to tackle a re-org of my gr bookshelves.
