I usually choose murder during the holiday season, but I wanted something different. This is my first by this author and it was amusing and offered just enough plot to let me speed through it. Three half sisters come together to settle their father‘s estate. His instructions are absurd, but meant to heal relationships and bring a community together. A comforting holiday story that earned 3 ⭐️ from me.

I was drawn to this book because I loved both the title and the cover, and my instincts did not steer me wrong! Family secrets, lovable characters, gorgeous European settings, humor, and even a bit of romance. Totally enjoyable!

3.5 Stars • Next of Kin by John Boyne (2006) is a twisty thriller set in 1936 London. Owen Montignac, a broke aristocrat, gets snubbed in his uncle‘s will, leaving everything to his cousin Stella. Facing a huge debt to a shady casino boss, Owen schemes to steal art, blackmail, and even kill to get what he thinks is his. He ropes in Gareth, the lazy son of a judge, and things spiral into a messy web of lies and murder. ⬇️

suvata Set during the Edward VIII-Wallis Simpson drama, it‘s a wild ride about greed and betrayal with a killer ending.

I was a little bored until the last quarter of the book. Then it picked up a bit and I liked the ending. ⭐️⭐️⭐️

I bought this book secondhand years ago and forgot I even had it until I saw Netflix had made a movie. I figured I should probably read it, so I could watch the movie😂. Overall, I enjoyed it, even though everything lined up too neatly for it to be realistic. I will say, if you liked this book, do NOT watch the movie. They changed everything. The only good change was who she ended up with in the end.

I read this in 2016 and didn‘t love it. It was my first audiobook, I had just gotten back into reading, and I think listening to the multiple POV format was too much. After a reread of the audio, I am in love!! The multiple POV enhances the story so much because all the characters are so internal. We really need their opinions of each other and peripheral stories to see everything as it is. 💛💛💛💛/5!
