Patrick Morris has very strict parents who‘ve gotten even more strict lately. His parents forbid him to join the school band, so he practices the saxophone at Casa Wakefield in his free time. He makes the band but his parents still refuse to let him play. He decides to run away, & Winston & the twins help. Eventually he goes home & learns his dad lost his job, which is why they didn‘t want him joining the band. But all‘s well that ends well in SV.

I enjoyed it so much! It was a perfect way to start the year and provided a real eye-opener into the lives of people in Jamaica.

The book does an amazing job describing Jamaican life, food, scenery, and settings. And the food! It had me salivating, I could almost taste it all!

Despite the cold/flu season in #SweetValley, Mr. Bowman‘s English class puts on a highlights version of Romeo & Juliet. Both Jessica & Lila want the titular role, & bet that the loser comes to school wearing the warts meant for the nurse‘s costume! Jessica, despite driving the house nuts with all of her practicing, succumbs to the sickness, Liz pulls a switch & auditions for her! But with Todd as Romeo, Liz wants the part! Shenanigans galore! Fun!

I really like this book and would add it to my class library. I think that if I were to read it, I would have to find another book that is similar to a boys can do anything type of book. More than likely, I would get it simply for my library.

This book written by e. E. Charlton-Trujillo and Pat Zietlow Miller is quite the inspiring tale that empowers girls to be creating and build. The book inspires young readers to do what inspires them and whether it is tinkering or welding, this story empowers girls to think BIG!

Mrs. W. has been spending a lot of time with her wealthy client, Frank. She & Mr. W. forget their anniversary. Jess quickly jumps to conclusions & thinks Mrs. W. is getting ready to run off with Frank & convinces Liz & Steven that their parents are headed for divorce. They quickly come up with some crazy schemes to make Frank think their family is a nightmare & hope he will run for the hills. This one was so funny! As pictured here, Jess stalks⬇️
