Trying to finish up @Faranae 's Ultimate Reading Challenge by the end of the year. Again, suggestions for the prompts are much appreciated!

Faranae For polyamory, there's Unhallowed (Jordan L Hawk), or Band Sinister (KJ Charles).

I cheated on fermentation and used The Gentle Art of Fortune Hunting (KJC).

For sea shanty, Hold Fast (Sebastian Nothwell) has one I think.

Trade unions I was a little cheaty and used A Seditious Affair (KJC).

Transportation? Wanted, A Gentleman (KJC) largely takes place on the mail coach roads! The obvious one would be One Last Stop (Casey McQuiston). 12mo

willaful I've actually already read all those, except the Hawk and Nothwell. But I really don't know how to find a sea shanty book, so I hope you're right about that! 12mo

Faranae I figured you had. You're usually *my* source of new queer romance to read, not the other way round. XD

I do have a lot of Hawk's back catalog to get through yet, but I did rather shoot myself in the foot early this year when I put all of the Hex World books into the #FRC2023 as a joke, 12mo

Any Old Diamonds | KJ Charles

I didn't actually read anything in May for the #FRC2023, but I realized I had failed to apply Any Old Diamonds to anything and decided to be cheeky and let it count for “composting the rich“. To be fair, “divesting the wealthy of their riches“ IS a passion of the Lilywhite Boys, and well, the way the plot goes... The actions may be unprincipled, but the result is rather close to propoganda of the deed anyhow.😂☠

I realized a while back that I wasn't keeping much track of my URC reads because it just wasn't as fun as when I used to have a whole bunch of different challenges to try to fit a book into. Maybe this will make it more fun again. 1y

Faranae @willaful Oh nooooo. The storage limit for uploaded media on Canva is 5GB, so I never bother to clear old images out. I suppose I'll have to someday... 1y

willaful @Faranae I'm just anal that way. I hate anything unnecessary lying around, even on my computer. 😂

On the bright side, it occurred to me I might be able to restore them--and I can!

I was looking for a bingo board, but of course the URC is too big and you use a checkbox for it. 🙄

I don't know if I'll complete the challenges without habitica to inspire me, but I'll definitely do some. Would hate to let you down with no Life of Pi entry. 😂

Faranae @willaful There's 52 prompts, which I assure you, do not fit on a single bingo card in any legible way. I did think about making multiple bingo cards for it, and I could still do so if you'd like? I definitely prefer the bingo cards to the checklist myself, which is how all of the Hex World books ended up on the FRC. 1y

Faranae @willaful It really does. I've got an idea for single book updates, though, I could do a sample post? It might make it more fun for future entries, even if the running tally is still just a checklist. 1y

Hexslayer | Jordan L Hawk

For April's #FRC2023 progress, Dawn and Kwaidan are the new (old) books. Kwaidan is technically a re-read. But I'm delighted that thanks to Think of England, I could finally put Hexslayer onto the FRC and now have the entire Hex World universe on the card together. The contrast between something as intense and serious as Dawn right there next to a book about pigeons and a rather twee romance (no fisticuffs in Two Rogues) is nearly shocking.

Throw His Heart Over | Sebastian Nothwell

Well, my #FRC2023 seems to be shaping up into “gay historical romance, punctuated by non-fiction“. I was alternating between exhausted and feverish the last couple weeks and ended up indulging in more binge reading. The tagged book, and the prior book (“Mr. Warren's Profession“) were a rare case of the StoryGraph “see similar“ button finding me a book I really enjoyed. My only complaint about “Masters in this Hall“ was the handling of concussion.

Blind Tiger | Jordan L Hawk

I went on a gay romance binge this last week or so (totally shanaqui's fault yup yup). I then realized I could cram the entire Hexworld universe series of full books onto the #FRC2023 . The only one I left out is Hexslayer, which I'm reserving for the URC “Book with an amputee“ prompt, but if I happen on another one for that, it's absolutely going on here for the mystery prompt. Have I wasted all the low-hanging fruit? Yes. Was it funny? Also YES.

Asian American Histories of the United States | Catherine Ceniza Choy

Finally got this one done. I received it quite awhile ago, but I was too busy to read it. It's my only hardcover ARC, and it's not even marked ARC so it's just a straight up copy of the book. Actually I have two, because Penguin does their distribution and 2 different divisions sent it. Potential giveaway??

I'm calling it my first FRC read of the year, although I should really just shove all these Jordan L. Hawk books into categories.
