I‘ve read a few books by Kate Morton, and The Distant Hours wasn‘t my favorite. I loved the historical fiction, dual timeline story, and setting of an old, European castle. But there were so many little things going on that made the story confusing at times.

DogMomIrene I remember thinking the same thing about this one. I need to pick her up again, though, because I think she wrote something that people said was closer to the goodness of 5d
NatalieR @DogMomIrene I‘m not deterred from her work at all. I‘ll definitely keep reading her. 🙂 4d

Mood board for #naturalitsy featuring the things giving me #cozyvibes this first week of December.

Cannot tell you how happy I was when husband came home with the Peppermint Mocha Coffee Creamer. Love adding a little to my morning coffee for festive vibes.

DogMomIrene @mcctrish I watched the first 4 or 5 seasons and then lost track of it. Love rewatching this campy fun and I‘m definitely looking forward to seeing how it ends, even though I‘ve heard it‘s abrupt. 2w
mcctrish The wheels fall off 🤣🤣 I think they hated each other 2w
DogMomIrene @mcctrish That‘s what I heard too. Plus both principal actors were in almost every scene, which is a grueling filming schedule that doesn‘t help. 2w

1. Intelligent, chatty, doppelgänger (I am constantly approached by strangers who think I‘m someone they know)
2. Helpful, kind, fun
3. Ramona Quimby and Hermione Granger
If you‘d like to play, consider yourself tagged! ?

I enjoyed this book most of the way through, but was really irritated with the characters by the end.

Tamra Oh, shoot! This type of book is so far outside my wheelhouse I would have expected to detest it. Instead I adored it! I love surprises like this. 4mo

It's no ordinary castle. It has favorites. It rearranges itself. And someone's trying to map it.
If your entertainment tastes run more to smiling, you'll like this one.

Aspirational home library. This could double as my dining room and living room, so unlike William Randolph Hearst, I wouldn't need the other 114 rooms and three cottages, just this room, a couple of bedrooms, a bathroom or two, and a kitchen. Totally reasonable, IMO.

Tamra 😍 totally reasonable. 6mo
BarbaraJean This was my favorite room when I toured Hearst Castle!! 6mo
ImperfectCJ @BarbaraJean I like it better than the library for the guests, but I would settle for either, if I had to. 6mo

My kids and I were completely sucked into the story on a recent road trip. The castle randomly adds or takes away rooms when it wants. The siblings are creative and supportive of each other. Even though they are defending themselves against a siege and someone trying to steal the crown, it never gets too scary. A wonderful adventure story!
