I‘ve read a few books by Kate Morton, and The Distant Hours wasn‘t my favorite. I loved the historical fiction, dual timeline story, and setting of an old, European castle. But there were so many little things going on that made the story confusing at times.

Finished this earlier in the week for this month‘s #SeasonalCozies after finding it doing a Google search for cozy mysteries set in September & finding out it was free for me on Audible. Honestly there wasn‘t much of a Sept presence/fall vibe but it wasn‘t a bad cozy mystery & I liked the characters overall. The main mystery was solved but it ended with a set up into a treasure hunt. The next one is set in October⬇️

It takes place in September, is first in a series (Merry Muffin Mysteries) & it‘s free as part of my Audible membership, so I‘m giving it a go. (Does that take on new meaning when talking about bran muffins?!) 😜💩😉

I enjoyed this book most of the way through, but was really irritated with the characters by the end.

Times are dark, cold, and deadly at Castle Gloom. Great adventures and dire betrayals gather to defeat the brave, honorable, and haunted friends. Their bravery and loyalty might prove to be their undoing….or the salvation of many. Imaginative with rich atmosphere and fabulous characters.

It's no ordinary castle. It has favorites. It rearranges itself. And someone's trying to map it.
If your entertainment tastes run more to smiling, you'll like this one.
