so-so
The first thing that struck me, was the narrative style. It is written in the form of a long letter, no chapters, as if a friend has written to you. It's an odd tale, about an odd boy, and an odder man - however, it isn't that unusual in its orphan boy fantasy plot, which is its only real negative. It is the interactions between characters that makes this book interesting. Though they are all flawed, they are each unique & brilliantly portrayed.
