Life Together
Life Together: The Classic Exploration of Christian Community | Dietrich Bonhoeffer
5 posts | 17 read | 5 to read
After his martyrdom at the hands of the Gestapo in 1945, Dietrich Bonhoeffer continued his witness in the hearts of Christians around the world. His Letters and Papers from Prison became a prized testimony to Christian faith and courage, read by thousands. Now in Life Together we have Pastor Bonhoeffer's experience of Christian community. This story of a unique fellowship in an underground seminary during the Nazi years reads like one of Paul's letters. It gives practical advice on how life together in Christ can be sustained in families and groups. The role of personal prayer, worship in common, everyday work, and Christian service is treated in simple, almost biblical, words. Life Together is bread for all who are hungry for the real life of Christian fellowship.

#BookReport / #WeeklyForecast: I only finished one book this week (tagged) & it‘s the one where I only had about 25 pages left. 🤦🏻‍♀️ But I‘m hoping to finish both in-progress reads & one other this week:
🦄The Little White Horse: 1/3 left, may finish this afternoon.
👑Sorcerer to the Crown: 1/4 finished—I‘m really enjoying it, but I‘ve been so distractible this week!
🗡Libriomancer: I need to both start & finish this, for book club next Sunday.

Cinfhen For some reading has been an escape for others it‘s too hard to focus/ I‘m finding both 😛I‘ve started the same book 4 times but blew through 2 others 🤷🏼‍♀️ 5y
BarbaraJean @Cinfhen It‘s such a weird thing—varies for me from day to day what I‘m able to focus on, what is an escape, etc. Just trying to stick with what works when it works! 🤪 5y

Okay so I'm starting seminary in the fall, and this 10-week pre-seminary summer reader just came in the mail. 167 pages of readings from Khaled Hosseini, Allen Ginsberg, Nadia Bolz-Weber, John Steinbeck, Anne Lamott, John Muir, Alice Walker, and Dietrich Bonhoeffer, to name only a few of the ones I've heard of. Could not be more excited/totally nerding out about this right now. 😍😍😍

Scochrane26 Congrats on seminary! I have a few female friends who are pastors (including at my church)with Presbyterian USA churches. 6y

Pickpick

This dense little book contains a lot of great ideas about serving others in your Christian community. But I lost some of the good feels because of the stuffy style/translation. Still worth a read, but just be aware you're going to have to be patient with these 128 pages. | ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Best morning devotional! BonHoeffer had such a gift and thankfully he left us these words in order to learn what community can look like.
