Mehso-so

What happens when you try to do TOO MANY THINGS! I lost count of the amount of stories that either started in the middle, or were cut off before the ending, with a little tag saying: see this issue of this other comic!
I can deal with a run that involves an arc continuing over multiple issues but this was like the trunk of a tree with too many branches. It involves a dizzying array of different superheroes 1/?

Robotswithpersonality 2/? with different goals, even creating new characters in a number of places.
If the basic idea - and it's not that basic! - that the Lazarus pits overflowed and created a bunch of situations is appealing there are certainly a number of threads to follow. I'm glad to see several of the main concerns introduced at the start of the book (and even that felt like I'd missed a few chapters) was resolved by the end, though it does make me personally

Robotswithpersonality 3/? grumpy that there's an obvious cliffhanger relating to the Batfam, which means either leaving it dangling or hunting down the specified mid-run issue.
I'll also happily admit that I lean towards the detective type stories in superhero comics, rather than the magic-based/fantastical ones, so the lore felt like a LOT in the face of my own info gaps around magic-based characters. I was curious about this one because of Mark Waid's involvement,

Robotswithpersonality 4/? but despite the success of Kingdom Come, I think from now on I'm going to avoid the bigger ensemble cast graphic novels. It's just too much to keep track of without enough pay off.
That being said, of the many mini stories featured:
8 Seconds of Still Force makes me want to investigate further into the DC Pride character of Circuit Breaker.
Electric makes me want to start Adventures of Superman: Jon Kent - I'm familiar with that character,

Robotswithpersonality 5/? but not the flirty morally gray character that was sort of helping, sort of stealing - it's giving mlm Batman/Catwoman vibes. 😉
Similarly, The Envoy: A Spirit World story makes me think I MIGHT pick up Sprit World No 1, because it's starting at the beginning of a series, and I love the mix of Cassandra as Bat Girl with John Constantine and a new character, Xanthe Zhou, with supernatural senses and a very big sword.

Robotswithpersonality 6/? Of the stories that actually felt like they had satisfactory endings:
The Price of Eternity is by far the standout because I'm a big softie and it was heartwarming - with a talking bunny!
Runner up is Masks and Monsters, particularly for me, seeing the glow up for Renee Montoya, a beatcop I only previously knew from Batman the animated series, now commissioner with a secret superhero alter ego. 👏🏻
