so-so(1733) Here's a strange one: it purports to be a collection of letters by various diplomats, written in 1997 and 1998 to King George VI's Lord High Treasurer, reporting on issues of the day, mostly the growth of the Vatican Empire, Britain's chief rival. There's little plot, and I think I missed most of the satirical references. So for me it was slow and difficult to engage with -- but still, interesting for its predictions and preoccupations.
