I didn't care for this book and I wouldn't recommend it. But I came across this quote in one of the stories that I think sums up why the author wrote it.
"I wrote stories I wish I had read...that I'd never read and was unlikely to because they were too controversial, violent, or shocking..they all contained more than a grain of truth. They were grounded in my experiences, insights, study, and what I knew or felt to be right and true. My truth."
