I adored this series. The drawings were gorgeous and dynamic, the characters all realistically complicated. This last book was a collection of extra shorts. While I loved the story of how Masako and her husband met, I kind of wish the main storyline had had more time as I still wasn't 100% convinced by Daikichi and Rin's romance. I just felt like... His feelings were very sudden? Great series overall though!

🤔🤔🤔 I have mixed feelings because I love all the characters sooooooo much. But. I wasn't completely sold on the whole moving a father/daughter type relationship into a romantic one???? I did appreciate though that Daikichi went about everything super respectfully. Idk. I'm hoping the extra edition will resolve some of these conflicted feelings I have.

There was a major time jump with this volume, 10 years! I'm not completely captured with high school Rin's storyline yet (basically she's beautiful and her childhood bff, Kouki, is in love with her). MEANWHILE my heart was completely ripped out by Daikichi and Nitani-san (Kouki's mom) in a flashback finally discussing their long time feelings for each other. 💔 Why do these two have to be practical all the time????????

Why can't you two just be happy together???????? 😢😢

(tfw two characters who are perfect together and would be amazing coparents JUST WON'T GET TOGETHER BECAUSE OF STUPID REASONS!!! 😭)

I felt like this volume was more serious than the prior ones, tackling issues like traditional Japanese marriage dynamics, and work culture in regards to having to take time off to care for a sick child. I loved it, and I love this series a ridiculous amount!

Still super cute! I love seeing how naturally Rin and Daikichi have become a family unit. This volume tackles first days of school and also how much Rin continues to blossom in a loving home. There's a particularly poignant scene where her birth mother spies on her and Daikichi cleaning off Rin's father's (Daikichi's grandfather's) grave. Absolutely loving this series!

The second book was possibly even better than the first! I love Rin and Daikichi's relationship- they bring a lot of stability to each other. I couldn't believe Rin's mom reacted the way she did when we meet her for the first time! 😨 Looking forward to book 3, which I get to pick up tomorrow (when the library's open again)!

I'm hoping entries will be made for all the volumes in this series, but until then I'm just going to stick my reviews here.

This first book is ridiculously adorable! I love the art style and I thought that the characterization of young Rin was perfect for a shy child. After reading this volume, I went and immediately put the rest of the series on hold. 😅

Not sure if I'll continue this series or not. It's pretty good, but I don't feel like I HAVE to know what happens next.

More manga. But after this I'll probably need to take a break and go back to novels.
