I was surprisingly affected by the denouement. I didn't like Angela Lamb as a character--find her insufferably self-centered and insensitive--but the blended narrative at the end was lovely.

Do you have to like a character to like a book? I'm finding that I need to be interested in and not exasperated by a main character to keep reading. Angela irritates me so that I have to put the book down after a few pages. I like Gerda more, and I'm enjoying the prose in Woolf's sections.
I'm having trouble getting into this book. I can't get the rhythm of it. Maybe it needs to be read in bigger gulps than I can give it?
