Pickpick

This was a follow-up to the Bow Street Duchess series, and this one was centered around a family member, Lady Cassandra Sinclair, with only brief glimpses of the two prior mains. Some time has passed since we last saw Cassie, which I found a good thing, as she had previously seemed very young, naive and a bit spoiled. As she has no plans to ever wed due to a tragic mistrust, she establishes Hope House, a private residence where pregnant, unwed ⬇️

Enter Lord Grant Thornton, a physician that Cassie has had contentious run-ins with in the past. As he discovers her connection to Hope House, and he is in immediate need of a betrothal, he basically blackmails her with her scandalous secret into a limited “fake” courtship. As the two begin to masquerade as a happy ⬇️ 4mo
robinb couple, they begin to see other sides to the other…Cassie as a strong, determined advocate, Grant as a dedicated, vulnerable widower/son. There‘s also a bit of danger and derring-do along the way. I enjoyed this story more than I even expected to (as I very much enjoyed the previous Bow Street Duchess series). Both mains were heart stealers and just thoroughly lovable characters. 4mo
robinb The humor, tender moments and chemistry were all spot on, and Devlin‘s writing itself is always such a pleasure. Looking forward to more from her. 4.5/5⭐️ 4mo
