Yep, truly terrifying. I chose this for "Phobia" for #ispybingo. When I was 11, I ended up with a tick on my head, both my parents were at work and my brother and I were left home alone at the time. My brother's best friend, also my first crush, came to the rescue and finally managed to remove the tick from my scalp by suffocating it with peanut butter.
Talk about embarrassing. To this day I have a phobia of ticks, parasites in general really.

aperfectmjk I'll have to add my other readathons later. They're all saved on my laptop. 1y
LiseWorks I didn't know peanut butter can get them off. I had a tick on my arm last year and told my husband just to pluck it off. 1y

Clwojick YUCK! I hate ticks! 1y
TheAromaofBooks Oh my, that's quite the story!! We deal with ticks a lot out where we live, so I'm not scared of them exactly, but they are definitely nasty, and with an increase of Lyme's disease in our area, I'm a bit obsessive with checking for them whenever we've been out in the woods!! 1y
aperfectmjk @LiseWorks I guess if they've been attached too long you can't really pluck them off without a part of them being left behind. Ideally you want them to release themselves. We tried alcohol I believe and other things that are supposed to suffocate it, but it didn't work. My brother came in with a match but I put a stop to that because he was about to set my whole head on fire. 🤣 1y
