Nicole and Tom won the lottery and are living their dreams. Well, Nicole's dreams: money hasn't bought Tom much happiness. Then Tom turns up dead in their pool with a head injury. Accident or murder? To get the answer we learn a lot about them, the three completely loopy inhabitants of the nearest house, and the two cops investigating the death. Parts of this were totally bonkers but it was all interesting and I was invested in all the stories. ⬇️
Started out ok then dragged on and on and just got more ridiculous. Too many threads to be plausible and then some new ones were thrown in at the end. The ending was not satisfying.
When I first started this book, it was really good, and I was enjoying it. Then, it got super slow, and the twists were just dumb. The further it got toward the end, the more far fetched everything became. The author didn't know what they wanted to do, so they just threw every cliche at the end possible just to get thrills. It was honestly just a bad mess. 2/5
This book was so good. It definitely got me out of my little slump of unfinished TBR's. Nicole and Tom win 10 mil in the lottery, but some dreams become nightmares and when Tom is suddenly killed, Nicole has to decipher who can be trusted. There are so many interesting characters in this one, a lot going on underneath the surface. I really enjoyed it solid ✴️✴️✴️✴️
This was a riveting thriller that I had trouble putting down, as I had no idea where it was going. There were so many hints that all was not as it seemed, but the reader (at least this reader) doesn't know what exactly is off. I admit that one of the twists disappointed me and I thought it was unnecessary. I also found that the ending was a little weak, but in spite of that, I really enjoyed the book. Thanks to Edelweiss+ for the ARC. 3.5/5 stars
