5 posts | 18 read
The hit series is back, to charm and inspire another generation of baby-sitters Jessi knows a secret language! She learned it from Matt Braddock, the BSC's newest charge. Matt's been deaf since birth, and he uses sign language to speak. Since Jessi is Matt's baby-sitter, she's been using sign language, too. Soon all the kids in Stoneybrook want to learn to sign . . . which keeps the Baby-sitters busy. Jessi's the busiest of all: she working on another secret just for Matt. Will she be able to keep the secret and pull off her special event? The best friends you'll ever have--with classic BSC covers and a letter from Ann M. Martin!

Great read based upon the book of the same name! I gave it to the federal way community centers little free library!

Great graphic novel based upon the babysitter‘s club book of the same name. Granted it is a little streamlined, but it is a graphic novel after all.

Jessi may be the most interesting of the baby-sitters.

Probably my fave of the series so far, remember loving it as a kid, too. Appreciate discussion of what it‘s like for Jessi‘s family as one of very few Black families in town. Also liked that this has a much more focused plot w/little side-story (and what there is ties into the main story). Can‘t speak to the deaf rep but felt respectful & was cool to see kids get excited about learning ASL to speak w/Matt. Surface level but still important. 4/5 ⭐️

I like this one too. I love that we see awareness of deaf children and sign language in it, combined perfectly with ballet which doesn‘t need any talking to understand.

MicrobeMom I love these books! I remember this one. 7y
