In a classroom, I think students would like looking at the images and sharing what relates to them. It is easier for kids to share something if its represented so they don't feel “weird“. Maybe a good book at the tart of the year as another informal get to know me.

In Every Life was published in 2023. The illustrations are to me what make this books so beautiful. This book talks about life experiences. The color that the illustrator used represents each quote. When they are talking about sadness they use dark colors, when they are talking about happy experiences they use light colors, and love is reds, pinks, and purples. Each page shows various experiences and you can spend time on each page

“In every love, blessed are the tears.“ All the quotes in this book were so good!

This book could be used to associate colors with emotions. An activity could be students using certain colors to depict how they feel that day or how their weekend was through colors. Yet again, another way to get to know your students outside of school.

This book won the Caldecott in 2024. The illustrations are what stood out to me from the cover, then opening it up they stood out to me even more. I think my students would love this book because as first graders, they feel a lot of emotions and also like characters to connect with. This book has a little of everything and brings the different types of relations to characters and pictures life to the story with vibrant colors throughout!

In Every Life, by Marla Frazee published in 2023. This book received a Caldecott award in 2024. This picturebook shows gorgeous illustrations displaying bright colors that children love! There are different characters showing different emotions like sadness, love, etc. and they are all met with the comfort of different images displaying that emotion.

I had a feeling when I found this at the library that it was going to make me cry. I didn't expect how much, though. The whole book killed me. It makes a great gift for your true love. I wish I had had the hope page when I was 33. The sadness page has me reframing my focus on comfort.
