This was a powerful story about staying true to yourself & finding friends who support you even when things get tough. It's very YA - I took a few week break after 75% because the angst was high lol. But overall it was a worthwhile read that really digs into the discrimination young queer people of color face among their peers & within their families. It definitely has a Breakfast Club vibe, with an unlikely group of students gathering together.

Through this book, Theo dissects his relationships with his friends, ex-friends, and father. Trying to identify how they treat each other, why their relationships are in the stage that they are in, and whether the relationships are healthy. I think this is a very important message. I have noticed that some friendships are only maintained because of the past rather than the present.
