Meh. Could have done without this novella. It‘s been a long time since I‘ve read the original book and I was excited to be back in this world. However, I was outside of the world for too long and didn‘t really remember anyone or what happened. It‘s probably a it‘s me and not you thing.

“The Mysteries of Thorn Manor” was a super cute novella that served as an extended epilogue for “Sorcery of Thorns”. I adore these characters, and I was sad yet again to reach the end of this story.

As the author freely admits, this is just an extended epilogue. Fun right after you've read the main book (Sorcery of Thorns, which—a few years ago—I loved), less fun after you've done a bit of forgetting. The plot is silly—it's all about exploring more of the characters you love.

A fanfiction to the author's own book, somehow?

Love this world and these characters and this novella—filled with misbehaving grimoires, angry magical wards, a brooding Silas, and the looming Midwinter Ball—offers a welcome return and delightful story. A short but fantastic read.

Yay for Tuesday and the arrival of a Sorcery of Thorns novella on my doorstep! The tagged book exists, according to the author‘s note, because fans repeated requests for an extended epilogue inspired her to write it. Thank you fans! Definitely excited to return to this world and to spend more time with these characters.
