Sometimes it feels like this country is hopelessly divided, like changing minds is impossible and trying is pointless. This timely, fascinating book looks at individuals and organizations who believe it's still worth the effort to reach out to those who may not share our worldview, to see them as humans capable of change and not hateful monsters we should write off entirely. A much-needed dose of practical optimism and hope.

SamAnne These efforts are essential to changing minds. I‘ve been a long time grassroots organizer on environmental issues and a lot of my work was focused on this. It‘s hard sometimes and so necessary. And in my work I‘ve found that my own views have changed now and again. Nothing changes when we stay in our bubbles. And I also acknowledge that for some people, on some issues, it‘s not a safe space to work. 2y
Decalino @SamAnne It does not sound easy! I would like to get better, even just to be able to discuss things with family members. It's reflexive to just throw facts at people, and that clearly does not work. 2y
