Journey deep into the Scottish Highlands in the first memoir by #1 New York Times bestselling author and award-winning star of Outlander, Sam Heughanexploring his life and reflecting on the waypoints that define him "I had to believe, because frankly, I had come so far there could be no turning back." In this intimate journey of self-discovery, Sam sets out along Scotland's rugged ninety-six-mile West Highland Way to map out the moments that shaped his views on dreams and ambition, family, friendship, love, and life. I wish I'd made time for this book sooner. It's been sitting on my shelf since its release. I even pre-ordered it! I am glad to have read it now, though. I liked the way Sam took us through his life, so far, in relation to his journey on the West Highland Way. It was a fun perspective, while also being poignant. #16-2024.

Darklunarose I had to go an out a hold on this from the library! 7mo

This was agreat listen to. Sam recounts the time he hiked the West Highland Way while reflecting the waypoints of his life. As a hiker myself, I really enjoyed listening to his journey going from Glasgow to Fort William. His struggles and successes were relatable. And of course I really enjoyed his tales of growing up and how he got the role of James Fraser. 4 ⭐️

Consider me an unreliable reviewer. I don‘t know if you can really trust my five star rating. I am a huge Outlander/Sam Heughan fangirl, so take from it what you will. I will suggest, however, that you listen to the audio version, because there is a lot of extra sidebar dialogue included.

Mehso-so

Sam Heughan aka Jaime Frasier from Outlander woke up one morning and decided he wanted to walk the West Highland Way, a hiking path across Scotland. This book is the narration of his journey mixed with stories from his life. I found this whole story to be really self-indulgent. I enjoyed listening to his lovely accent, but honestly this would never have been published except for the fact that he is the star of a hit TV series. ⭐️⭐️⭐️/5

Things I learned while traveling The West Highland Way with Sam Heughan:

Walking Poles are a must.
Skip the camping and book yourself into a comfy room each night.
Take it slow.

"If I can lose myself in the here and now, I realize, the future will take care of itself."

Freespirit Great advice.. walking is the best!! 2y

Sam Heughan takes us on a journey across the 96 mile West Highland Way in Scotland. Planned on a whim, completely overpacked (although those walking sticks did come in handy), and requiring multiple days of travel in less than ideal conditions, Sam reflects on his love for the outdoors, his country and his career. His insights into his own life are interwoven along his path over those many miles, ending at the top of Ben Nevis.
