5☆ McGuire's book reads like an investigative diary of sorts. It's heartbreaking yet a beautiful portrait of maternal grief, motherhood, trauma, identity, mental illness, artistry, and above all love. McGuire's writing is at once compelling, deeply honest and moving. It's special because it shows the reader of the person behind the addition, his life and the love he had. I'm so happy this book exists and I got to read about Holden. #bookreview
