I could not get into the Montress series, but I blew through this book in one sitting. The slow reveal was well handled, and the pace never slowed. It was a little goofy while keeping up the suspense. I'm usually not a fan of anime/manga faces but it was done well enough here. While there was a reveal, there wasn't much explanation (first of a planned trilogy). Looking forward to vol 2.

pickI‘m such a HUGE fan of Monstress so you can imagine how excited I was when I found out that same team was doing another series. Love the artwork and storyline and I can‘t wait to get my hands on the next book in the Autumn. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
pickHaving not one (love, love, love Monstress) but two Liu/Takeda collaborations in the world is just an embarrassment of riches. Though this work is very different from Monstress the writing is every bit as good and, needless to say, the artwork is exquisite. If you are a fan of horror, graphic novels, Liu and/or Takeda, or some combination of all of them, I highly recommend this graphic novel. Visually stunning & creepy as anything.
pickThis was a great horror graphic novel for October. Twins running a restaurant during the pandemic discover their emotionally distant mother has been hiding some distinctly horrifying secrets about who--and what--their family truly is. It was strangely lovely to see people wearing masks in a graphic novel and I loved that the story is set during the pandemic without being about the pandemic at all. Can't wait to read the next column in 2023!
Not sure where this horror graphic novel is going quite yet, but I'm enjoying it.
