This was teenage-me‘s favorite Senécal book, but I didn‘t think I could like it in its new comic form due to the graphic content. Then a friend gave it to me. I just got around to reading it - and loving it. Senécal‘s horror retelling of Alice in Wonderland is a story I still find fascinating. Plus, the quality is amazing: the paper is thick, the use of colours is brilliant, and most character designs are great.
KateReadsYA I tried searching for this translated in English and could not find it! What a treasure I bet. 2y
ulrichyumiodd @KateReadsYA I believe only two of his novels have been (or are going to be) translated in English. Quebec literature always feels a bit isolated as a small French market. Translations don‘t happen very often, as far as I know. The book has lots of drugs, sex, and violence… but it works somehow and doesn‘t feel cheap. 2y
KateReadsYA @ulrichyumiodd what a bummer. Wish it would be translated, I love dark books and Alice in wonderland retellings! 2y
ulrichyumiodd @KateReadsYA Hopefully you‘ll be able to find some good ones in English! I did wonder if I should have written my review in French - but I decided to go with a review in English because I use the app exclusively in English normally. 2y
