pickAddie is deliberate in her deal with a devil and refuses to regret the deal she has made. Everything changes when she meets Henry- somebody who can't forget her. Pay attention to the heading of the chapters as this story skips between Addie's past and her present. The weaving of time and apathy and hope is masterful. The deliberate timing of reveal makes the book so hard to put down.
pickI was sad at the beginning because I was just not connecting with this but then Henry came along and I couldn‘t put it down
It‘s not often I find a dedication with my name. I‘m pretty sure V.E. wasn‘t talking about grudges here 🤣 ( which I‘m very good at 😣) and now that I‘m well into the story I get it, and I‘m so glad I kept going ( the 100 page rule of perseverance doesn‘t often let me down)
I‘ve kept going ( around page 150 now) and @Booksblanketsandahotbeverage you are right about the Henry parts ( I also like that Addie is finding her groove in both timelines and doesn‘t feel so desperate) I am intrigued by him and why he hasn‘t forgotten her
This has been on my TBR for ages and it‘s also one of my irl book club picks but I‘m struggling - after 1000 Doors of January and A Short Walk Through a Wide World it just feels flat or more of the same ( I‘m only about 50 pages in so maybe it gets better - always try to do 100 pages just in case )
pickTime was definitely not linear in the writing of this story. I enjoyed the concept of it, though it was nothing new, making a deal with a devil. And considering that she could live as long as she wanted, that was a pretty good deal compared to most of the others he made. I was hoping that she would end up with Luc anyway, I was just bummed that even though she did…she really didn‘t. I enjoyed how she inspired all those artists.
I loved this story so much that I needed to get a second copy and of course I had to get the illustrated anniversary edition 😊

Somehow I put out this book months ago after reading 20%. I got notion in my mind that this book will definitely have a sad ending, brokenhearted, something that I would make me mop for days. But I was wrong, somehow the ending is fitting, some say it was anticlimatic, but for me it's just perfect.
