A visual comprehensive coverage of how the science fiction genre was begun, who the major figures are, where it seems going.

This doesn‘t only name-check the books but the graphics, the manga, the films and tv shows.

A smorgasbord in other words. I wouldn‘t say this is a volume you can just breeze through; write down the names and recommendations as you go. 🛸🚀👨‍🚀🤖👽

This was a great overview of the history of science fiction, though I was upset that Octavia E Butler wasn't given a section within the book to talk about her and Ursula K Le Guine and their contributions, women were only really mentioned as an after thought... And really this book is more of a "White Person" History of Science Fiction. I hope a version that focuses on the contributions of POC is created.

CuriousG Can you even discuss science fiction without talking about Octavia Butler?! 3y
