I wasn‘t a particularly badge orientated girl guide - but I love the ones I have… that were lovingly sewn onto my camp blanket by my Nana.

So I‘m sure she‘s going to be so excited when I show up with my blanket and this Mickey Mouse badge that Mum gave me for my birthday (she was all - Nana will sew it on for you 😂)

Any other former Guides on Litsy?

Deblovestoread I was a Girl Scout in the US. We had a sash for our badges. I don‘t think I have mine anymore but it would be a fun trip down memory lane to see it again. So cool you have yours. 2w
kezzlou85 I was a brownie but our guides was closed down before I could start. My girls were both brownies too. 2w
thegirlwiththelibrarybag @Deblovestoread, I had a sash too - but unpicked the badges on there when I finished up to put on the blanket. Some of them were from special events and never made it onto the sash. I have all my uncles ones from scouts too - they‘re on the other end of the blanket. 2w

thegirlwiththelibrarybag @kezzlou85, sad that they closed, but brownies would have been an amazing experience too. 2w
kezzlou85 @thegirlwiththelibrarybag brownies was so much fun. We had a big group. My oldest was a rainbow then a brownie, my youngest started brownies early as she was dying to go with her sister so the leader let her stay for meetings 2w
thegirlwiththelibrarybag @kezzlou85, that‘s so cute! In Australia it used to go gumnuts, brownies, guides and then queen guides - I think it‘s all just one big category these days though. Not sure how they are doing for numbers these days. I have lots of good memories from my time there - and it sounds like you and your daughters do too! 2w

I found a bunch of these koala hug notes in my guide bag - this one made me laugh so hard I cried.

Mousey haired sounds like a description you‘d find in Trixie Beldon era book. Mum agreed that this one wasn‘t completely complimentary.

I think the idea was to write an anonymous compliment for everyone - one said I was weird but most said that I was friendly, kind and quiet 🤣

Some absolutely gold finds when I was going through boxes of mine that Mum stores for me. I had no idea that I had a campsite flag from one of my Lady Stradbroke Camp adventures. Making the flag was always one of the most fun parts of getting ready for the competition camp (seeing how much junk food you could sneak into the trolley while doing the camp shop with the guide leaders being the most fun).

paper.reveries Woah that is awesome! What kind of camp was that? 3y
thegirlwiththelibrarybag @daisyheadmaesie, it was a competitive camp for all the guide units in the region. You got assessed on everything from meal preparation to what gadgets you‘d made (everyone always made something for the wash basin to go in - but one year we made a miniature hills hoist) to how well you made a camp fire to general knowledge on first aid and campsite safety. We camped in tents - and there was lots of fun, group activities. I used to especially love 3y
thegirlwiththelibrarybag @daisyheadmaesie, when we played Cluedo (live action, we were the characters). There was a lot of eating lollies at night when we should have been sleeping - it was a lot of fun. 3y
paper.reveries @thegirlwiththelibrarybag That sounds like SO MUCH FUN!!! :) I never did away camps as a kid, so I‘m always curious about peoples‘ experiences! 3y
thegirlwiththelibrarybag @daisyheadmaesie, it was! Possibly because there wasn‘t a lot of supervision 😂 we never took ourselves that seriously - we were there for a good time! 3y
