Read this in just over a day. I haven't read a lot of fantasy since I was younger, not knowing what to read that wasn't YA but also wasn't an intimidating "grown up" series like GOT or LOTR. This was perfect, it took me back to my middle school days of devouring fablehaven and getting lost in magical stories. Can't wait to read the sequel.?

Y'all this book is SO COOL. I've never read anything quite like it. I was picking up major Katniss Everdeen vibes in the beginning, but this is no Panem. As awesome as Katniss is I don't think she would have volunteered to have sex with the LITERAL Sun, who is somehow simultaneously a celestial deity with a human form responsible for populating the night sky with stars, and a flaming ball of gas that the entire solar system revolves around.

A lovely, soft fantasy with just enough magic & a beautiful folktale style story that had me hooked from the very beginning. Explores love & family in such a way that wrenched my heart more than once. I was simply in love with the characters. This book gave me all the feels, filling my heart & then smashing it to pieces. And I was totally cool with it. Charlie Holmberg has a beautiful talent & I love every world & character she creates.
