Finally getting to start The Harlech Beach Killings, the second book in the DI Ruth Hunter series set in Wales.
EadieB Hope you enjoy it but the author needs to get over the characters' drinking problem. 3y
Andrew65 @EadieB Yes 10% in and hits you in the face! Said Ruth is just about to turn 50, I didn‘t have her down as this age. @tove 3y
EadieB @Andrew65 I was surprised at that too! 3y

Andrew65 @EadieB Glad it wasn‘t just me. 3y
Andrew65 @Tove_Reads @EadieB What are your thoughts on the way Ruth was ostracised and treated after the events of Book 1, I didn‘t think she had done much wrong. Seems strange. 3y
EadieB @Andrew65 To me it seemed a bit political. I think the men seemed a bit jealous of her as when she first arrived she was thrown immediately into an investigation and it was a way to put her in her place and make her prove herself all over again. 3y
Andrew65 @EadieB Let‘s try and keep our male powerbase, and out barriers in the way of promotion. Seems out and out sexism and bullying. 3y
EadieB @Andrew65 I agree! But women are not taken seriously many times and have to prove themselves over and over again! 3y
Tove_Reads Can you almost smell the cigarettes and smell the old booze? 3y
eanderson I need to get to this one really soon 3y
Andrew65 @Tove_Reads Yes! 3y
Andrew65 @EadieB This is what is wrong, it shouldn‘t still be like this. 3y
EadieB @Andrew65 I think there needs to be more education on gender bias in the workplace and more people need to stand up against it. 3y
Andrew65 @EadieB Yes Equity and Diversity a major part of our school improvement plan and on the local strategy group driving this area. 3y
EadieB @Andrew65 I guess it will take more time to overcome the old habits in this area. 3y
Andrew65 @EadieB Especially where it is institutional sexism. Most of the people who visited school for my job have been male, despite most primary teachers being female. This has shocked me. 3y
Andrew65 @eanderson Hope you enjoy it when you get there. 3y
Tove_Reads She has a grownup daughter so 50 sounds about right to me. I really like it, because I‘m tired of everyone being fantastic, rich, on the top of their career between 25-35. 3y
