pick⭐️⭐️⭐️ Writer/editor Steve Haruch compiled these essays and articles by local writers - Ann Patchett, Margaret Renkl, Ben Folds, etc - to articulate Music City‘s rapid change over two decades. There‘s a bit of repetition, but that doesn‘t take away from the points: intense gentrification, lack of affordable housing, metro school segregation, police, politics, pro sports, tech, hot chicken, and yeah, music. The good, the bad, and the inevitable.

britt_brooke @Booksnchill Dang. Yeah, we‘ve already been told no trash pickup this week. And trash is already a hot topic up here since the city went cheap on the new contract. 🙄 4y

SaturnDoo @britt_brooke @mom2bugnbee we haven't had mail delivery since Saturday and our trash pickup was supposed to be Tuesday. We went online to the city website and it will next week and extra bags will be allowed at no extra charge 🤣 4y
SaturnDoo @Booksnchill we won't have trash pickuo until next week. 🤪 no mail, grocery stores opening late, closing early. No doordash cause all fast food is closed 🤣 the joys of getting lots of ice for 3-4days, and then a big dump of snow. 4y
SaturnDoo @Cinfhen I'm not in Nashville but just a short 15-20 min drive from it. If you get to come visit, have loads of fun and enjoy!!! There's lots of beautiful suburbs and other nearby cities that are great!!! 4y
britt_brooke @SaturnDoo I swear, Tennessee cannot function in winter weather. 😂 I‘ve lived in a few cold weather places (CO, UT, WI) and this always cracks me up. Everything is a total crap shoot. Good luck down your way. Hoping it all clears up this weekend.🤞🏻 4y
SaturnDoo @britt_brooke LOL IKR!!! It's been this way all my life. I think it's because TN rarely gets hit with a lot of snow/ice so the state just isn't prepared for it.TN is prepared for small minor ice/snow storms but not the BIG ones that last more than a day or two. So when a major storm comes through like now, here we are unprepared and everyone and everything shut down. I lived in NE a short time and nothing shuts down. 4y

britt_brooke @SaturnDoo Yep! I grew up in Kentucky and it‘s pretty much the same there. It was fun as a kid waking up to see if a dusting of snow would cancel school. 😂 4y
