In the wake of a referendum which has divided the nation, the last thing the Queen needs is any additional problems to worry about. But when a body is found in the Palace swimming pool, she finds herself once again in the middle of a murder investigation which even her best detectives can't crack. With her trusted secretary Rozie by her side, the Queen is determined to solve the case. But when an oil painting of the Royal Yacht Britannia - first given to the Queen in the 1950s - shows up unexpectedly in a Royal Navy exhibition, she begins to realise that there is more to this murder than she could ever have suspected

Hmm, I‘m not too sure.

On one hand, the Queen discretely solving murders, with the help of her young assistant private secretary, is still a lot of fun. The author loves (some of) her royals! And who doesn‘t like a bit of art crime?

On the other 😕lots of things. The plot got more than a little convoluted. A whole host of heavy themes were in here, not all of them managed well. And it needed more dogs!

I *may* or may not read the next one!

The second in the series where the Queen is investigating a possible murder. It is a lovely read, very witty and charming.

After reading Olga Dies Dreaming I needed a light, entertaining read. I knew this series would provide it and I stayed up way past my bedtime to finish it.

janeycanuck I‘m so glad this has turned into a series! 3y

This is my Waterstones order, all were half price and I really had to stop myself ordering more. The bottom two books are signed too.

S J Bennett is really finding her stride with these. You completely feel like you‘re getting behind the scenes at Buckingham Palace and the Queen‘s antics. And the Corgi‘s of course! Highly recommended sequel.

The Queen is very busy, there is a lot going on, close to home there is a referendum, in the USA they have a big election and now all she needs on top is a dead body in the Palace pool but that's what she gets!
A Palace worker has bled to death by the pool.
The Queen is already on the case, ably assisted by her sidekick Rozie Oshodi.
The police believe its an accident but the Queen is suspicious so the pair set out to investigate.

An exciting story and some very interesting characters. Based on the British Royal Family and their fictional members of staff. When there is trouble at the palace, the Queen and one of her staff investigate what has been going on behind the scenes . The troubles include a murder, poison letters, a stalking and a missing painting from the Queens own collection.

Next in the series out in the UK November 11

BookNAround Oooo! I ordered the first one from the UK for my mom for Christmas and enjoyed my pre-read of it. I guess I‘ll have to get this one for her (me first) now. 😁 (edited) 4y
