pickThis short tale about the legacy of old African magic, the loss of knowledge about it, the impact of slavery, and its implications for the present day was an interesting and sad read; it was made especially powerful because I‘d just recently finished Kindred.
pickAn amazing short story combining racial tensions in the 1800s with the devil‘s seduction of a young girl. Very disturbing and very good.
pickMan, I wish I had someone to talk about this story with! Despite enjoying it, there‘s a gnawing feeling in my gut that I missed something, so I‘m going to reread it. There‘s a lot packed into this short story.
Sometimes I wonder if I should even bother drawing up a TBR each month, since I feel like I always get a bit off track. 😂 Anyway, here are my (maybe) reads for Nov. October was a slow reading month for me. I launched a horror film podcast, which took up a lot of free time, so I‘m still working through some intended Oct books. Now that I have a better idea of what I‘m doing, I hope to get back to reading more! 😊
