The Night Bus Hero | Onjali Q. Rauf
2 posts | 2 read | 5 to read
From Onjali Q. Rauf, the award-winning and best-selling author of The Boy at the Back of the Class, comes another incredible story, told with humour and heart. 'The boy's an absolute menace.' 'He's a bully. A lost cause!' 'What are we going to do with him?' I've been getting into trouble for as long I can remember. Usually I don't mind 'cos some of my best, most brilliant ideas have come from sitting in detention. But ever since I played a prank on the man who lives in the park, I keep getting blamed for things I haven't even done. Everyone thinks I'm just a bully. They don't believe I could be a hero. But I have the perfect idea to prove them all wrong... Told from the perspective of a bully, this book explores themes of bullying and homelessness, while celebrating kindness, friendship and the potential everyone has to change for the good.

My daughter and I loved reading this at bedtime , very relevant and brings up discussions about homelessness and the importance of kindness and not judging others.

Lots of facts at the back of the book about how many homeless people we have on the streets right now and what is deemed homeless and the different types of homelessness, sad and hard hitting but delivered sensitively for children

A very well written children‘s book about a school bully who becomes entangled in a mystery involving a thief in London. It tackles homelessness in a child friendly (but still very hard hitting) way and has left me feeling deflated but equally inspired to do more for those who find themselves on the streets. ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️
