pickAmazing, incredible. Probably not if you have a son though. Read a review that said Samson was probably, definitely on the spectrum. That was not in the book at all, just a mom‘s constant struggle connecting to her difficult child. So if that viewpoint will bother you, please consider!

If you grit your teeth through scenes of frustrating parenting, marital problems, bad decisions, etc., this one has done its job. Lesbian/queer MCs. 3.5 stars. pickAt first, I thought this book was just bizarre and cringeworthy, but by the end, I found her approach to looking at parenthood and divorce strangely wonderful!
Sammie can‘t seem to connect with her odd son Samson, at least not as well as her wife Monika can. Part 1 covers a tumultuous few months in Samson‘s elementary years when the family is just coming unraveled. In part 2, Samson is a surly teenager and Sammie understands him even less. ⬇️
I feel like the phrase “cringe-worthy” is overused, but cringing is all I‘m doing while reading this! I skipped Kristen‘s debut because taxidermy freaks me out, but I decided to try this from the library. Part of me is enthralled by all the bad decisions, mouth descriptions, and biting, but the rest of me feels a bit nauseated! 😬😬😬😬
