What Did You Eat Yesterday?, Volume 13
What Did You Eat Yesterday?, Volume 13 | Fumi Fumi Yoshinaga
3 posts | 1 read | 1 to read
From the James Tripee Award Winning author, Fumi Yoshinaga, comes a casual romance between two 40-year-old men and the many meals they share together. Gilbert invites himself over for a hot-pot made with common-folk ingredients, and Shiro wonders if things will be weird with Kohinata. Kenji tries to put off entering his 50's for as long as possible, until Shiro reframes the idea of birthday celebrations, just as an old college classmate of Shiro's passes away. Changes are afoot at both Kenji's salon and Shiro's law firm... but the one constant is that there is always good food and great company to be enjoyed.

Pickpick

Shiro & Kenji, a gay Tokyo couple, have been together 13 years in volume 13 of this manga series. I didn‘t feel compelled to try anything Shiro cooked up this time (almost all of the veggie sides had meat) but I looked over his shoulder with interest as he prepared things like octopus & horse mackerel. And stuff going on with the couple‘s relationship, their work situations & their friends keeps drawing me back too. #LGBTQ #comics #translation

This depiction of mask-wearing in Japanese culture has made me pause and reflect. I used to be sceptical about the efficacy of face masks in preventing the spread of respiratory illness, but not anymore. 😷

It‘s been awhile, but I‘m glad to be back in the kitchen with Shiro.
