pickTove Ditlevsen was born in Copenhagen in 1917 and became one of Denmark‘s best known writers. Her memoirs, originally published in three separate books, are together in this compelling trilogy edition. The final book is about drug addiction, reminding me that this isn‘t a new problem. The audiobook, read by Stine Wintlev, kept me enthralled. Translation by Tiina Nunnally & Michael Favala Goldman.

pickThis books is amazing! She writes in a gripping style (real page-turner) but also with a fascinating sense of remove. The narrative is honest and brutal, and she doesn‘t reflect on her experiences through an adult lens. I want to read more over her stories

pickThis was a really fascinating and devastating read about life of Danish writer Tove Ditlevsen. It starts from her childhood through to her addiction riddled life. The last part Dependency is the most memorable and sad.

She was born in 1918, so she tells about growing up in a working class family and the different expectations on her older brother and her. The third book focuses on her marriages and her dependency on narcotics.
I didn‘t like the first book as much, I thought it lacked some details, but I got used to this as I read on. The strongest part for me was how easy it was to get addicted.
