6 hours - finished tagged audiobook: middle school story about unjust dress code punishment for girls. I have seen this too often in my years teaching and counseling in middle schools
3+ hours got me 2/3 way through the Jan Karon book. This one tells the story of the Kavanahs‘ journey to their roots in Ireland.

Girl power and political action meet in this thoughtful coming-of-age story. Dress codes are STILL an issue.

I am so happy to see books like this becoming more common.

Yes! 5☆
Many who wear the exact same clothes as others yet are pulled aside because the clothes fit them differently and may be a distraction to the male students. A similar theme as Moxie (Mathieu) yet a totally attainable conclusion when voices unite to be heard. It's not just a one school problem, it's a fault in society that plagues the educational systems we lived through ourselves, and current generations are also facing. "Enough is enough!"

Mehso-so

Dress Coded is the story of an 8th grader starting a podcast to call out her school's discriminatory dress code and to try and remove it.

I think if I was the actual target audience for this book I probably would've enjoyed it more. The audiobook of this also features different narrators for each guest on the podcast which I thought was a nice touch. It will definitely be an important read for children/young teens to promote activism.
