HF/ Notable Children's Books/ SR GR
A great historical fiction book (for social studies unit) about WWII & Jewish ghettos
Lightly touches on the subject in a kid friendly way but illustrates for kids what life was like for these people during this scary time
Great book for read aloud/think aloud, lots of higher thinking questions/discussions can be had
Read aloud video https://youtu.be/SWHjMhutlws
UDL 4.2

The Cats in Krasinski Square is a historical fiction book written by Karen Hesse and illustrated by Wendy Watson. This book gives information on people that lived during the time period of the Holocaust. It is more kid friendly because it has a focus on cats.

It's really hard to write a great kids book about the Holocaust. This one, by Newberry Medal winner Karen Hesse, does an amazing job. I love this page because the carnival swing reminds me of my ggpa's painting, Luna Park.

mrldg I was just reading about a carnival or some kind of fair very close to the walls of the Warsaw ghetto--this must be what is depicted here? 8y
Erynecki @mrldg to be honest, I'm not really sure. 8y
