This short story in the Black Stars series definitely gives off Star Trek: Discovery vibes. In fact, it gives off ST:TOS vibes as well. Msizi is sent on a maiden voyage to a planet deemed suitable for human existence. The mission takes an unforeseen turn when Msizi finds the planet already inhabited by humans. Best of the series so far. It is a solid 5-star rating for me.
I'm 32 weeks pregnant and have been finding it ever so hard to get into books during my pregnancy. Did this happen to anyone else?
#TBRPile Day 16 📚 Magic is women‘s work; war is men‘s. Men do not become mystics, they become warriors. But 18 year old Salo has never been good at confirming to his tribe‘s expectations. Salo‘s queen is surprisingly accepting, but she will not allow him to start. Instead she sends Salo a quest far beyond the jungle to the political heart of the jungle.
My pick for June's First Reads. Sounds pretty good!
A world where only women can do magic and the men are the warriors. But 18 year old Salo is secretly working on a device which will awaken his magical powers. When his village is attacked and he uses this device, the Queen is oddly accecpting of his powers and sends him on a quest to gather information on a growing threat.
Looking forward to reading this one.
